Conservatives for Liberty wishes to welcome Conservatives for Britain (CfB) into the political fray and express our delight that CfL Advisory Board member (and one of our favourite MPs) Steve Baker is co-chair with the excellent David Campbell Bannerman MEP.
The group currently consists of 50 parliamentarians – the only ones yet named being Owen Paterson, John Redwood, Adam Afriyie, Julian Lewis, James Cleverly, Tom Pursglove, Anne-Marie Trevelyan and Craig Mackinlay – however Mr Baker has claimed the group is likely to reach more than 100 supporters in the House before membership is opened to activists.
Speaking with Andrew Neill on The Sunday Politics, Mr Baker said the group exists ‘to assess the renovation when it comes and to prepare for an Out campaign.’
The chances are many eurosceptic MPs will be unhappy with whatever renegotiation the Prime Minister manages to achieve or feign, and so a Conservative Out campaign is in our opinion most likely to led by Conservatives for Britain.
However, whatever the eventual position of CfB, CfL will be campaigning for this country to reestablish its sovereignty outside the European Union.
